British gas - not only but also . . .
British Gas have advised me today of the price increases to my current tariff. Gas 8% Electricity 9.9%. However they have also advised me of "Other important changes you need to know about". "As a result of the new Ofgem requirements we have decided to withdraw our paperless billing discount on 31 December 2013." What?

In a survey it was found that people would be happy paying higher bills if they were simpler.
This is another way of making sure that the folks who were too thick and stupid to find a good deal pay the same as those who were rate tarts.

It's only what people said they wanted.
In an MSE poll, most people said they wanted simplified tariffs,even if that resulted in higher prices.
So now the regulator is ordering suppliers to provide only simplified tariffs (and a maximum of 4 at that), and one outcome of that is that they have to withdraw their previous wide range of complicated discounts.0
