Letting Agent gone bust! What should i do?

According to the Housing Act the Letting Agent should have kept all deposits in a separate bank account. If the Agent is found to have been acting unlawfully perhaps I can get that money back?
A local newspaper says that the closed offices are under the control of an insolvency practitioner and that creditors should register an interest, so I will find out how to do this. The proprietor has been made personally bankrupt by HM Revenuse & Customs.
I hope my tenant does not want to leave any time soon!0 -
Is it right that a letting agent can join a Deposit Protection Scheme, register some deposits then decide to end his membership, therefore leaving those deposits unprotected?
It seems a very easy way to help yourself to a lot of other peoples' money.0
