On zigzag for 50 seconds - Will she get a fine ??

Somebody was waiting for somebody else to come from accross the road into their car (waited to be collected),
But the driver, who was waiting was on a zigzag (which they realized after...as it was raining really heavily so visibility wasn't clear.)
1. Would the driver get a fine for this? in the post?
2. would that give driving license points on the license ?
3. How would they even catch that they were there for 50 seconds?
4. how many days would it take for the fine notice to come in the post?
ie, when should they expect it in their letter box ?
5. Is there a change they can be let off? (if nobody saw me , or It wasn't captured that they were there for 50 seconds )?
assistance please 1.2.3.4.5.

I suppose it depends if your local authority enforces off CCTV or not. So for the moment, stop worrying till you get the notice - Until then, there is absolutely nothing you can do.
And if you do get a notice, Pepipoo is probably the best place to take it.0 -
Unless there are cameras around you should be ok but it does carry 3 points and a fine/penalty if you are caughtBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Are there usually cameras about all zig zags ?
it was on a long medium busy road,
If caught on camera, it will be 3 points + a fine ??0 -
Sorry but aren't zig zag lines usually leading to crossings etc.... thus, very important to keep clear from obstacles in the road... even more important when visibility is reduced!0

Seen this hundreds of times, doubt weather all the drivers got done.0

If the local authority get you its a penalty, if the Police get you its a penalty and 3 points!
However both are better than contributing to somebody being run over at a crossing, the zigzags are to ensure a clear view, this is one contravention you won't get a lot of sympathy over!
"Somebody was waiting for somebody else" "if nobody saw me"0 -
Even if the couldn't see the zig-zags (a doubtful defence as if you can't see that far either your eye sight is poor or visibility is so bad should you be driving.) all but the most inexperienced driver would know all crossings have zig-zags (and it is covered in the driving test theory test) so there is no defence if they do get a fine or fine and points .
Sorry -no sympathy-the markings are there for safety reasons and most crossings on busy roads have cameras on them so the odds of hearing from the authorities are high. (of course if the visability was truely as poor as you are claiming perhaps the plate wouldn't be readable by the camera).
Why do you think you should be "let off" ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Not that I condone stopping on the zig-zags.0 -

It seems a lot of people think the motion/light sensors fitted to the top of the signal poles are CCTV cameras.0 -
Back in the day (30 years ago) it was always "in the book" for parking on the approach side of a zebra and a verbal warning for the exit side (provided the driver moved sharpish).
50 seconds is plenty long enough to obstruct the view of people on the crossing from an oncoming vehicle and I can't believe that visibility was so bad that the zebra crossing and all the attendant lights and road markings couldn't be seen. In fact the bad visibility makes the offence worse if you think about it.
The "somebody" probably won't get a ticket or summons but they deserve to imo.
Money saving tip - buy a copy of the Highway Code, read and digest - it could save you a lot of grief and money in the future.0
