Occasional trackpad problem

Hello there.
I'm having a problem with my laptop trackpad if anyone can help. I often listen to internet radio on the laptop, and after an hour or so, when I go back to the laptop the trackpad has frozen, pointer can't be moved and both left/right buttons don't work.
When I plug in a mouse everything on it works fine, but trackpad/buttons still frozen.
Logging out and back on has no effect, only a full restart restores it to normal.
I tend to keep up to date with updates for drivers etc.
I'ts a SAMSUNG, model NP350V5C-A0EUK if anyone has any ideas what the problem is.
I'm not over savvy on computers so have'nt a clue what it might be.
Thanks in advance (Windows 8)

How "occasional" is the problem?
Would it be the 2nd Wednesday of each month? That's when Microsoft release updates and it can cause all sorts of wierd stuff until the computer has been restarted a couple of times.
If it's not something you can track down the load the latest drivers.0 -
Cheers for that.
It happens 3-4 times a week. I'm still mostly using me 6 year old Packard Bell laptop and only bought the Samsung last year ready for the PB to give up the ghost. I have the radio running on the Samsung in the background, that's the only time it's left untouched for so long, and that's the only time it happens. I've heard the trackpad on this model needs a fairly light touch to work properly and that seems true enough.
I'm putting it down to a mixture of Windows8/bad choice of laptop. I should've looked on here before buying it.
As you say, I'll have a look for what driver updates are out there.
Thanks again.0 -
Also have a look at your power settings.
Look at screen saver settings as well.
Download Ccleaner, clean out temporary files and any registry issues. Look at what programs run at startup and disable any you don't actually need.0 -
Try downloading Slimdrivers - it's free get it on Cnet Downloads, and try seeing what driver updates it finds. My Mind wanders, if found please return.0
