Barclaycard money transfer

Hi all.

I have just done a BT from a fairly high interest card to a 0% for 18 months barclaycard.

I want to use part of the remaining credit to pay off a high interest loan (there's no early settlement charge). To pay off in the interest free period would still save me £85 a month, and save me paying some of the interest.

My barclaycard terms say that they can transfer to current accounts from 'time to time'. Not very helpful for me right now.

Here's the question. Does anyone have any experiences of money transfers from barclaycard, and their frequency? Also, is there another way round this short of withdrawing cash, which would clearly cost an arm and a leg.

Thanks.

Withdrawing cash is certainly not an option as your 0% are on BTs (and possibly on purchases) only. You can draw from another card and then transfer the balance to BC, but this will cost you ~3% extra.

Re a transfer to a current account I would just ask Barclaycard if they can do this.

I have not had a money transfer offer to my bank account for a few years from BC.

However checked my online account recently and they are offering me 4.9 percent for two years and no fee.
  • I've had two offers from Barclaycard Egg recently.

The first a couple of months ago was a SBT for 3.9% for 12 months.

Just this month they are offering me another SBT for 6 months at 1.5% and a normal balance transfer for 12 months at a high 3.9%.

I have no idea why the SBT is at such a low interest rate. Just can't figure them out.
You may question anything I say. Just be polite, otherwise you go straight on to my Ignore List, which funds a good old fashioned knees-up every Xmas. Cheers;)

I now have another SBT offer. This one is 1.9 fee and interest 1.9 until May 2014 or the other SBT offer is 4.9 and no fee until October 2015.

Reminds me of London in the 70's. You could wait ages for a bus then 3 came along at once to the same destination.
  • I've never seen a SBT on offer from my BC until I logged in today - 0% until May 2014 with a 1.9% fee. I've had the card for around 8 years and made use of a couple of BT offers previously. I've been paying down the balance as much as I can this year and I'm wondering if this has prompted BC to try and lure me to keep the use of the card up!

It may be a bit late to drag this one up again, but I've received my first money transfer offer from Barclaycard as mentioned above. Similar profile as well.

Might be a new marketing initiative.

For years this was greyed out to me permanently, only BT offers available, but this last 12-18 months I've got near constant SBT offers.

The current is the one stated above, May 14 with 1.9% fee. Not worth bothering with for me at the moment, but not a terrible offer.
