Nissan Micra stalling and lumpy idle

Options
Hi,

I've had my X reg Nissan Micra S 1.0 petrol car since new (2000) and recently have been experiencing some problems with it. Problems I've been having are a lumpy idle and stalling when pulling up to lights/junctions, and after reversing in a three point turn

If I start the car up in the driveway, the engine runs smoothly when 1st started. After about 30 sec, the revs drop a little and the idle becomes erratic with the revs fluctuating between. I have no rev counter installed so am unable to give figures. It's almost as if the engine's about to stall and it then revs itself up. Some times while idling in the driveway the engine will cut out. The stalling happens when pulling up at junctions or traffic lights, when the clutch is pressed and held in the majority of times the engine will cut out. When this happens, the battery warning light comes on. I've had the battery checked and it's fully charged

Has anyone else experience this sort of problem? The car has done just over 80,000 miles and is serviced annually.

Thanks in advance for any info and advice

This could be the air flow meter, a Know fault on these.
Bad news it it is a sealed unit .
When they were the in thing, they cost nearly £2000 to fix what was a reoccurring problem, the newer ones were the same, just worse, hence why the brand died.
You can pick up repaired exchange Airflow + throttle bodies for around £150-200 on E-bay
    Be happy...;)

Thanks!! This sounds like it's going to be an expensive repair. I already spent £350 last year. Not sure my car's even worth that much now.

Part of the MAF sensor must be exposed at some point, take it apart give the insides a good blast with carb cleaner or something and let it dry. Worked on wifes MR2 which ran poorly.

Thank you all for your replies. Unfortunately, I am clueless when it comes to cars, but I'm taking the car into the garage for it's MOT on Wednesday so will get them to look at the possible causes you have all listed.
