Balance and available balance

The last month or two I frequently find my available balance is lower than my actual balance by weird amounts like £1.58.


It's not a pending debit (this month I have solely withdrawn cash, no debit payments (well I have my usual DDs too)), nor the usual £1 that Pay at Pump takes (again, not used it).


So I'm at a loss as to where this difference is coming from. Will the bank know? Any ideas?

Is this "available balance" what you see at a cashpoint machine? If it was the case then it may only show what your cash withdrawal amount available is. For example Balance = £600, available for withdrawal £300 (because your ATM limit is £300 per day)

Have you deposited cheques? It may not include cleared and uncleared funds.

It's on online banking that I see this. I get 'current balance' and 'available balance'.

It's only small amounts, at the mo it's £1.58. Had the same thing a couple of weeks ago, for a similar (maybe even the same) amount and after a few days it disappeared and my available balance was the same as my actual balance (no payment left my account).

No cheques have gone in, no debit card payments made for 3 + weeks, no cashpoints that charge fees have been used.
