Removing sor notice

I need to remove my sorn on a seat ibiza. To do this it says that I need to get a new tax disc. The tax discs I get are free, so I didn't need to return it. Do i need to get a new one or can I use the old one still?

You can't just put the old tax disc back on the car as one way or another the DVLA need to be notified that the car is back on the road.0

So I need to apply for a new one?0

Even free tax discs need to be returned when you SORN your vehicle and you need to apply for a new one when you unsorn itBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
I've never returned even an outdated one, are you sure?paddedjohn wrote: »Even free tax discs need to be returned when you SORN your vehicle and you need to apply for a new one when you unsorn itI'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
- You should not use this form if the vehicle is taxed and no longer used on the public road. You need to return the disc (including nil value discs) to DVLA and make a SORN using Application for a refund of vehicle tax when you have the tax disc (V14) instead.
- If the vehicle is not already registered in your name, please ensure the appropriate part of the V5C is filled in and sent.
If the V5C is lost a form V62 (fee applicable) must be filled in. - MakeaSORNonlyifthetaxdiscforyourvehiclerunsoutonorafter31January 1998. If you fail to do so you could be fined a minimum of £1,000. There is no need to make a SORN for a vehicle while a tax disc is in force.
The above is from the SORN form v890.

They want it back if it's a paid one that you're cashing in for the value of the remaining months.
If it's expired, then they don't want it back.
If it's a freebie, then I can't see why they would want it back - but it'll no longer be valid.
I'm guessing the car's been SORNed whilst having no insurance for a period? So, yep, just apply for a new (free) tax disc, and that'll cancel the SORN.0 -
What do you do if you have sorne'd the car as the insurance had run out but the tax is still valid and you have not asked for a tax refund.
If you get new insurance is that enough to start driving again or do/ how do you declare un-sorne'd?0
