Info for cheap energy comparison

As a new member of the cheap energy club, could someone clarify something for me please?
On my utility bill there is an amount for the standing charge for gas & electricity.
Do I include that in the annual spend for each utility product?
Also do I include the discounted rate for electricity for the first 2387 kWh with remainder of 543 kWh at a much lower rate. How will this affect the output of the softwares calculations?
Plus there's an additional 5% VAT on energy products. How do I factor this into the usage data I give?
In other words, do these factors affect the like for like comparison calculations?

You're overcomplicating it. All you need is your annual kWh usage figures, plus the name of the tariff(s) you're on.0
