Ordered a sofa now changed my mind

Hi, I ordered a sofa from DfS on Saturday evening, at about 8pm. It was a standard one from their store, nothing special or custom job.
On the Sunday I changed my mind about having it as a sofa bed version, and then called on the Monday to say I wanted to change the order to have the sofa without the bed.
They got back to me today to say that it was too late, and the sofa has already been made, which I don't quite believe as they said it would only be delivered in 2-6 weeks.
Is there anything I can do about this? After a quick browse around there doesn't appear to be any legal obligation for them to refund me which sucks but hopefully there is something I can do given its quite soon after the order and it hasn't been filled yet.
Thanks
Edit: I should add that the sofa we purchased was not in the showroom, but another version of it was on display which we tried (a corner version but we bought a 3 seater version), plus we got the sofa bed but that wasn't on display either. Could this mean distance selling regulations apply?

you have no return/refund rights for change of mind.
You do know DFS dont make the sofas. Your ordered and i assume paid deposit. DFS then order this from their supplierthe sofa has already been made, which I don't quite believe as they said it would only be delivered in 2-6 weeks.
the delivery is 2-6 weeks and not the making of the sofa, most sofas come from Italy, this is why they give such a long delivery period0 -
If you ordered it in store then the fact they didnt have your model on display is irrelevant unfortunately.
Ultimately you need to check what you signed in terms of cancellation or returns policy. Presumably you are wanting to upgrade your order so more money for them and you should hopefully be able to come to some form of agreement0 -
NO DSR do not apply.
You ordered in store, you signed a contract. They don't have to do anything.
2-6 weeks is a short lead time, so it won't be an Italian factory, Italian factories are around 12 weeks....as it takes ages to ship anything by Sea. It will be a UK one, so chances are, it has started production. Or there is already one in the UK warehouse.0 -
Again do not think distance selling rules apply contract trade premises etc but think it is vey bad customer service.
I would read the back of your order form just in caseHappiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
ah well, looks like I'm stuck with it then.
I was actually downgrading, ordered a sofabed but wanted instead just the sofa as I thought about it and the bed will probably ruin the comfort of the sofa.
Live and learn I guess.Faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0 -
Technically there is nothing stopping you cancelling the order, but you would then be liable for any losses they incur because you would be in breach of contract (unless there are terms in the contract saying otherwise).
What their losses would be at this stage I have no idea.0 -
As a last ditch effort I've emailed the CEO to say I am disappointed at the poor customer service and given they have £600m in annual sales, I am surely not the only person buying the sofa so I don't see why it couldn't go to the next person that orders it.
I'll see if it yields any results, I read online someone did once manage to get an order cancelled, somehowFaith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.0 -
Can't comment about this particular one, but we a used to have a sofa bed that was very comfortable both as a sofa and as a bed.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Yes these days Sofa Beds are just as comfortable either way now as a bed or Sofa0
