My husband has mislaid his Snap-on screwdriver (well actually he says someone else has moved/pinched/lost it).
Hes not happy. I never realised until he started looking at a replacement how expensive they are:eek: & why he was so protective over it:mad:
We've said we will buy him one as a Fathers Day gift, anyone know the best/cheapest place to buy these?
Don't mind if its part of a "small" (can't afford a normal) tool kit.
On ebay the single ratchet screwdrivers are going for about £45 with P&P:eek:
OR, & I might have trouble selling him this idea, but whats the second best make:D

I've had a look at that already (& the UK one).
REALLY expensive.
I suspose I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a sale or discount outlet:rolleyes:0 -
Snap on stuff is mainly only sold by sales reps visiting garages etc, hence why they cost so much.
IMO Stanley screwdrivers are !!!!in cracking, and will be availabe singually from a decent local tool/hardware shop. Depending what size it is expect to pay £2-£100 -
How funny you should say that, I bought him a Stanley one today in Robert Dyas for £11.
Its a ratchet one with a few different heads (he has some snap on heads anyway, because I lost the little button that keeps them in a couple of years ago:rolleyes: so he had them seperate in a little pot.)
I actually think I might know where the snap on one is now, I brought a few tools around to my mums when we were decorating her place, I think I might have left it there.
I bought that Stanley one today with the promise of a good snap on set for his birthday in September.
So if anyone hears of snap on sets going on sale/discount between now & then, I would love to hear:D0 -
Hi, I'm not sure if this helps, but I have a little toolkit for my own use, I bought it in Ikea for £5. It has a good quality wrench, pliers, hammer and a screwdriver which comes with a set of 10 different heads, they pull out and slot back in and are held firmly in place by a strong magnet inside. I have yet to come across a type of screw it hasn't fitted. Will this do as a replacement for your husbands lost screwdriver? Best wishes from Jandy0

No he thinks they have to be mega expensive to be any good, he would laugh at yours.........
BUT it might be worth me buying it, for myself & then I have my own little kit & I won't have to touch his & get in trouble when things go missing:T .
Thanks:D0 -
Theres a Snapon slogan-
'You can have the shirt off my back, but dont ask to borrow my Snap on tools'
Thats why!
£40 souns about right tbh, occasioanly they are on a deal on the vans, but you will struglle to get one for much less.0 -

Mine's a lorry mechanic which was fun when he left his job a couple of weeks back and we had to carry 2 rollcab toolboxes and top boxes through the house and down into the cellar. Even more so to bring them back out so he could start his new job last week! And then he has the nerve to tell me off for not carrying them right!Smokefree since 27-9-20070 -
Cab driver
He doesn't do anything to his car himself, he puts it in the main dealers.
He used to do everything around the house, but now its just the basics & we get people in for the big tasks.
What I'm saying is, its not as if he needs to top of the range stuff:mad:
Going to pop round my mums tomorrow & fingers crossed its there:D
Otherwise I will get him a nice set for his birthday.0
