You can ask for cas but better to get a cheque or even better a BACS payment. :)

ps your post should have gone in the TC thread!

  • The UK is getting worst than the US - we are the compensation Capital of the world - that's why the country is going to the dogs - shame.

It isn't travellerboy! Because hardly anybody actually gets this compensation.

EU report suggests only 2% of those entitled to compensation actually achieve. If airlines got their 'act together' there would not be a need for anyone to claim in the first place. :)

You miss the point. It is because of the Compensation Vultures in this country that everyone bills are rising.

    No I don't.
Bills rise when significant business costs are rising.
Hardly anybody gets flight compensation because it is very difficult to get, needs a lot of knowledge about regulations, case law, how the court works etc, most just can't be bothered and the payouts are very low. Thus it is an absolutely insignificant business cost.

One thing I have noticed since the EU flight delay compensation has been getting more press are the airlines trying their best to keep delays under 3hrs.
Point in case: July with Jet2, the aircraft went unserviceable at the last minute (we were on the bus heading over to it)
Jet2 flew a contingency aircraft in from somewhere to use

They kept the delay to 2.5 hrs
The girl at the gate told me they'd only just started to deploy contingency aircraft in order to mitigate delay compensation claims.
Doing this certainly adds to operating costs but it also means they operate that part of their business responsibly, If it means paying a few quid extra, that's fine by me.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
