My fuel costs are £168 per month.help.

I currently pay £168 per month. £84 for each.
My gas is only for hot water and radiators in winter.
Om economy 7 for electric I need to know who is the cheapest and which fuel company is truly still British.
By that, I do not mean a company registered in England, Scotland and Wales. A company where the owners are British and not French, German or any other Country.

Thank you.

A truly British company hey...not going to happen. The majority of company shares in all the big six are owned by foreign shareholders. They may be operated and registered in the UK and that be the closest you get to a truly British company. That'll be just British Gas and SSE. They still buy energy on the international market so the majority of your money paid will still be leaving the country as only 25% of production is in the UK.

You need to know your kWh usage and region and use a comparison site.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Why are you on economy 7 when you have a gas central heating system?

To make savings with Economy 7 you need to have a time-switched electric immersion heater and/or electric room heaters via timers plus maybe use a tumble dryer during the cheap rate too when it's impossible to dry washing outdoors. Works well for us.

We use this setup together with gas central heating and our monthly dds are £75 for gas and £50 for the electric both with Atlantic (part of SSE). That's for just 2 of us in a 2-bedroomed bungalow.
    Never trust a financial institution.

Do you submit monthly readings or rely on the estimated bill?

How many Kw do you use annually?

Disabled daughter so if heating breaks down need a second source of fuel as she is in danger if she catches cold.

That seems pretty reasonable. I turn my heating and water off in the summer period as I have a dishwasher I can put on during cheap rate and we have an electric shower. The water can be switched to electric too. I use very little on the cheap rate but I might try doing all during cheap rate. Thank you.
