Tips regarding booking a villa.

Hi, was wondering if anyone had any tips regarding booking a holiday villa?

I am looking at booking one through the ownersdirect website, i have emailed one i like and the owner has responsed to confirm availablity and price.
The website suggests i call the owner in spain direct, to confirm the booking and to pay via cheque or bank transfer. They also offer holiday insurance including fraud protection for £35.

Is there anything else i can do to protect myself?

Unfortunately unless you can pay the owner or their agent by Credit card it is difficult to get your money back if they are a crook.
So take out holiday insurance now and pay by € cheque, costs £10 from Santander, should be the same from your bank.
Remember most transactions go well so have a great holiday.

We used owners direct last year and took out their insurance. It is often gut feeling, if they have good reviews too (however these can be forged) ours last year we were the first people to book (2nd to stay).
