Agreed it's a ridiculous comparison.Warning: any unnecessary disclaimers appearing under my posts do not bear any connection with reality, either intended, accidental or otherwise. Your statutory rights are not affected.0

Get out of here!
If I get a letter with a stamp un-marked, I will use the stamp again.
That's like saying if you scan something at the supermarket and it's gone through at a cheaper price than what was displayed but you don't alert anyone, you're stealing!
cheaper? Dont you mean not paying at all?0 -

Maybe a better example is money, I have to keep throwing out old fivers and tenners because they have been used already...
Are there other examples in the world where it is illegal to recycle something?0 -

its not recycling
the stamp is a voucher towards a service
once provided, the only 'recycling' is that as you would any other piece of paper0 -

I have no argument I can possibly use against someone who does not understand the difference between recycling and fraud.
If I buy a day return ticket for work and the gates at the train station are open and my ticket is not retained and I obtained value from that ticket by selling it on or reusing it for a 2nd journey (when it was valid only for one) would that be recycling in your strange world as well?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Is there a 'dumbest post of the year' award? How can you not know the difference between a stamp and money? My flabber has been well and truly gasted by that.marking_bad wrote: »Maybe a better example is money, I have to keep throwing out old fivers and tenners because they have been used already...

Perhaps a better comparison would be an in-store voucher.
If the cashier returns it to you by mistake and you know it should only be used once, are you saying you wouldn't use it again?
I thought so!0 -

That would be fraud, just like using a stamp that's already been used.
Stamps are payment for a service. You can/should not recycle a service. Using a paid service for free isn't right.
I would not use the in-store voucher again. I'd wonder why the cashier had given me a worthless voucher back as you can only use it once and I'd just throw it away.0 -
