Hi I cant find an answer to this...however im just curious if you can be granted legal aid for one case if you are currently already receiving it for a totally unrelated case?

Criminal case? IE you are being charged with a crime by the CPS? if so, yes you are still eligible for legalaid.

Other matters are case by case

Ones ongoing for a family law (obtained before the law changed) the new one is for an inquest into a death, through a solicitor. (its more detailed than that but i wont go into it) - However both legal aids would need to run parallel.

Yes, you can get legal aid for more than one matter at the same time. My knowledge is mostly of family/care matters, but I would imagine there would just be a new funding certificate issued as they are totally separate matters, and neither would really impact upon the other, unless the statutory charge applied.

Yes, as long as you continue to be eligible for legal aid based on means ffor your family matter your certificate will continue. This will not affect obtaining another certificate for another case, however I do not know whether legal aid is available for an inquest.
