Gap Year Travel Insurance

Does anyone have any policies they can recommend for gap year travel to include some volunteering in China and then travel mostly around the far east?
Endsleigh was recommended by the company organising the volunteering but seems very expensive!
Thanks

I'm doing something similar next year; the most travelled person I know recommended me a company called 'Insure and Go'. They offer backpacker insurance, very basic policy for a year is around £280.

You'll have to google them as I can't post links.

    Have a good trip!

I used Endsleigh they were competitive at the time and you could include working as an option which not all insurers covered.

I'm teaching in China for a year and agree that Endsleigh was horrifically expensive. I've got a joint travel and medical insurance policy with LV which is fantastic, to the extent I'm covered for £50K ransom fee if I get kidnapped! All my possession and electronics are covered, the medical part of is brilliant, if anything happens to me I am taken to a private hospital and if I die my body is repatriated back to the UK.

It cost me I think £320 for the year - for peace of mind it was worth that.
