I'm in a very similar situation in that I want to do renovations on some of the rooms but it seams pointless unless I address the underlying issue that is very probably damaging the house each day.
I live in zone 3/4 and very exposed. As you say the insulation companies are good at saying it is not their fault however it has a guarantee and there are stories online of people getting it removed by the company that installed it, but not getting any money to repair the walls / rotten joists. I will continue until early next year to try to get the offending company to remove it, before I give up and just spent 2-3k to get someone else to take it out. What a con and a waste of tax payers money
Out of interest are you planning to get it removed by a private company or are you trying to live with it?
No we are just working at trying to get the better of it . Im hopeful getting rid of the infected unit will help quite a bit,(replaceing it with a free standing doorless one, and we also leave the bathroom window open for longer after a shower
:(:(:( ,Plus , Im going to buy shares in a manufacturer of mould mildew spray lol !
Even if we paid a structural engineer to come in and give an opinion, I doubt that he can have the 100% proof needed by the insulation company ,before they would remove it. A moneypit I suspect --along the lines of they have access to bigger and better experts than me. I want a quiet life ,not one of writing legal letters, appeals and hassle. Had enough of all that in the past .
I hope you resurrect the post in time and let us know if you do manage to get the company to remove it. Good luck.0 -

Ok well good luck with managing it, hopefully it isn't as bad as mine. Totally know what you mean about not wanting any hassle, god knows I have enough of that in my life, but I don't earn much so the cost of getting it replaced makes it worth fighting for. Also got a house that isn't that healthy to live in and would cause problems if I wanted to move, so I guess I'd rather put alot of effort in to solve it sooner rather than later.
The company have said there is an issue with the insulation with cold patches and are offering to pump more into the house. But they assure me that it is dry and not the cause of water coming into the house. They just did it by looking at it through a camera and their fingers - had no special metering tools or anything, im skeptical to trust them.
Next step is to pay 200 for an independent survey.0
