Hi people.
Has anybody got a quick guide to show me how to password protect my Wireless Broadband?
I've got a Belkin Pre-N Router (not that I think that makes a difference)
I have had a look on the net but no luck so far.
Any help will be appreciated as I feel a bit vulnerable with neighbours having access to my broadband connection.
Thank you
BNB

See here and get yourself a long random passphrase key from here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Thank you for the links espresso. I have secured my Network.
However, I am now not connecting to Internet correctly and can only work offline!
I did not disable DHCP as the link says in ''precaution 3: Disable DHCP, and assign IP address manually for client systems.'' I only have my own laptop so didn't think it was necessary.
I ran a Network diagnostics test for Windows and it came back with the following:
The computer has the following default gatewayentr(ies) :192.168.2.1 and
This computer has the following IP address (es): 192.168.2.2 (Should these be the same numbers? I updated my belkin using 192.168.2.2.)
Have I not updated the correct IP address? There is some problem with Internet Explorer connecting with the Broadband as I can connect to my work server remotely.
Any suggestions?

If the IP address for the gateway (router) is 192.168.2.1, then the 1st computer to ccnnect to it will be on 192.168.2.2 , so you do have the correct address.
Try entering an alphanumeric only key on the router and computer.0
