Bank Of Scotland and Haliax (Having to switch accounts?)

Hey all,
I'm just really curious about this one. The TSB split from lloyds got me thinking.
I've been told fairly recently I must switch my Halifax accounts to the Bank of Scotland (I'm in Scotland) and a new Halifax Branch will open in Glasgow City Center.
I've been searching for some details about an re-organisation or changes, but I can't seem to find much online. Does anyone know much about this? They are telling me basically if I don't change my Halifax Student Account to the Bank Of Scotland I can no longer use that branch. This is also echoed by the fact that the Bank of Scotland will apparently not take on my overdraft (which, I have been clearing, but is still under 0% student terms).
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Very much appreciated and thank you in advance

Just being in Scotland does not mean you cannot have Halifax accounts, I live in Glasgow and have 5 Halifax accounts.
I haven't heard anything about any changes coming.
No doubt BOS would like you to get one of their accounts, but you should only do that if it will be better for you.
You can still pay in and withdraw at BOS branches, but you cannot open new Halifax accounts in the branch. No need usually....just do it on-line or by phone.0 -
The BOS student / graduate offering is better than Halifax so they are probably doing you a favour.
It's subjective but I also find BOS customer service better than Halifax.jennifernil wrote: »Just being in Scotland does not mean you cannot have Halifax accounts, I live in Glasgow and have 5 Halifax accounts.

This is purely a brand-engineering exercise, and they can't blame Brussels or the regulators.
Just tell them you already bank with Bank of Scotland, and that was the contractual basis on which you opened the account in the first place.
If they'd just like to rebrand your existing account, then of course there's nothing stopping them. It's probably the same product that was sold under the BoS brand before they switched to selling the LTSB range."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0
