UKPC Parking Charge outside my own house
Comments
-
@BREALSY, is your property freehold or leasehold? And who owns those shared areas? May need to dig out the lease or deeds (which will have convenants about shared areas and how they are managed) to see what it says in relation to parking. With luck, you will be able to get UKPC thrown out for attempting to enforce rules which the management company has no right or authority to impose. The management company needs a good rap over the knuckles as well for the usual arrogance these people display.0

Received a response from the Council Highways and Transport Department and they have confirmed that the land is indeed private. The house is freehold and from the actual deed the shared areas are termed "management land".
I've tried attaching a pic, but as a new user I can't post it0 -
First thing I would do is rip their sign off your wall.Be happy...;)0

So in terms of sorting out this charge, what's my course of action? Appeal before the 14 days are up?0
-
Yes simple soft appeal, do not tip them about the signs, something like.
parking charge 07789674566
The registered keeper denies liability for the charge as you have failed to identify the creditor in your correspondence. THIS IS AN APPEAL.
Please forward a POPLA code with your rejection letter.Be happy...;)0 -
Also for some fun, look in your deeds and see if it mentions you must have a sign for a private company conduct commerce attached to your wall.
if not bill them and the management company for £500 per annum retrospectively for the attaching of an advertisement sign offering contractual parking to your property .Be happy...;)0 -
I've submitted the soft appeal, I'll now await their response0
