when i click links now to email etc... it automatically opens outlook and not hotmail. i hate outlook and always just use hotmail so it is a real pain.

I have checked in my internet options/programs and that is clicked for windows live mail not outlook express, i have removed my email addy from outlook but it still keeps popping up when i click on a link.

Any way of getting rid of this as its getting very annoying now.

It should be set correctly as you have it. Just humor the software and set it to outlook express reboot try an email link and hopfully it will open OE. next set internet explorer properties to hotmail and close IE then reboot and tr an email again hopfully it will fix the problem.

I have seen this happen in the past but only on IE7 maachines. dropping back to IE6 sorted the problem if you really like IE7 then reinstall and see how it goes.

You could uninstall outlook express since you don't use it (add/remove windows components), then it wouldn't be able to open it.

When you click on a mailto link, it will open your default e-mail client i.e. Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc. If you are using IE, try Tools, Internet Options, Programs, E-mail and you may be able the setting to change it to Hotmail.

    e-mail client? ????

On XP I used webmailcompose and it would open up direct in yahoo, but the webpage is no longer available.

How can I get a mailto link to open direct in Yahoo with Vista?

Why don't you simply use your chosen e-mail client to access Yahoo for you?

I prefer to use Yahoo rather than an email client
