Timescale for share certificates

Options
I've inherited some shares and want to sell some and keep some.

What's a realistic timescale to obtain new certificates (which is what I believe is needed).

The shares are dealt with by Computershare if that helps.

Thank you and be gentle with me I have never had to deal with shares before.

Why do you need new ones, have the old ones been lost?
Is it just the one company`s shares.
Replacing a certificate can cost around £40+
What shares are they and who is the registrar?

The registrar holds the shareholders register for the company and is the only one that can issue a new cert.

    Why did you mention Computershare
    are they the registrar?

Yes they must be. I presume then I get in touch with them for new certificates. Any idea how long that would normally take?

This Computershare link may be of help to you -
    Share Certificates

This category will assist you in determining what is required to validate your current certificates and if required, the process to follow if you have lost or misplaced your share certificates.

Ifts has given you a useful link but if you have inherited the shares your name wouldn`t have been on the cert anyway.
If I`m right it`s going to be a bit more complicated than first seemed.

You will need to phone Computershare and explain what`s happened and they will tell you exactly waht they require, probably a death cert and proof of inheritance.

Ifts: Why are you quoting the contact details for Computershare in South Africa? There is nothing to suggest that Mrs cat is not in the UK.
