I need to open another basic bank account as am reclaiming bank charges from HSBC and also want them to reduce payments on a managed loan. I applied to citibank for a basic account but they have turned me down!!!
Where can i try now?? fed up of being told no!!! I dont want credit just an account where i can pay my direct debits from. Im am a single parent receiving benefits and a carer for my disabled son, so tho no wages goes in a regular amount does go in each month/week!!!

Citibank don't offer a basic current account as far as I'm aware.
Yorkshire offer one, NatWest, Barclays I think too?

i always thought citibank accepted most people, i had read on here somewhere that a forum user had never known anyone to be turned down, which is why i tried them, but alas they turned me down!!
So if citibank wont take me who will??

I think Yorkshire Bank only check for bankruptcy so might be worth a try.
Did you take a look at the thread I mentioned above? Think that is the place to ask as there will be lots of people who are/have been in the same position.
Hope you get it sorted! :beer:0 -

At the begining of this year, Citibank were very lenient in thier acceptance criteria and a lot of people got a full current account with them who have previously been turned down elsewhere.
Since Feb, Citibank appear to changed their criteria once again and they appear to be less forgiving to those with lower credit scores. Since then, a fair few FM's reported they had been turned down so one can only guess Citibank are now scoring people the same as any other bank would for their current account products.:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove
