Best time to buy a kitchen (Wickes/Homebase/B&Q)

I'm looking to buy a new kitchen soon and I'm curious as to when the best time is to go to the store and make the purchase.
I've been told that Wickes offer high discounts when they change their ranges over.

I've priced up what I want in Wickes, as of this weekend, and plan to keep an eye on sales and price changes.

I'll also be paying in cash, and won't require the design or fitting service - Just the cabinets etc.
What's the likelihood of being able to haggle on price when spending £2k+ in cash at one time?
And when do people recommend purchasing to ensure I get the best deal?
I'm in no rush and can wait for the optimum time.

Wickes change their brochures 7th December apparently. I Asked them about a price on some tiles and they said that its priced until the new books comes out in December so might be worth trying then :)

Plus there will be the New Year sales where everyone will want to sell off their old stock to make room for the new years ones.

Unfortunately the sound old method of paying in cash and getting a discount is long dead and gone. They have money laundering and the sale of credit to factor in so......:(

By coincidence I called in at my local wickes yesterday, they had an ex demo kitchen in at 75% off. Ok, it's an off chance you can pick up something like that but you never know.

Maybe the old new year sales still holds for kitchens, certainly the best time to buy is when the majority is "cash short";)

Anyway who am I to comment, I have the worst judgement in the world.
I'm the guy that bought an MFI kitchen the day they didn't have a sale on :D:D;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Benchmarx is the Trade arm of Wickes, so give them a try as buying through them is going to be cheaper than going via Wickes.

At the end of last year I had a quote from B&Q, but with no real intention from buying from them, just wanted to get a rough idea of how much in total would be charged for a complete kitchen refurbishment by one of the large 'Sheds'.

If I remember rightly, it was sometime just after Christmas that they started doing discounts.

Spending circa £2k on a kitchen really is peanuts & will bring you no deals for paying in cash I'm afraid. The best way to save money is by buying everything other than cabinets elsewhere, such as handles, sink, tap, hob. etc. etc
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Cattie, it's peanuts to you, and to be honest when I read the post I thought exactly the same.
But it's only peanuts because of how much we have been brainwashed into paying for a heap of flat packed squashed sawdust cabinets.
I've tried pricing cabinets only, doors only and handles only.
It doesn't work, go try it.

Buy the units inc doors and handles, then go shop elsewhere, ;);)

Have a look on Ebay and local paper, also ring showrooms for display models that they may be willing to part with and get your own installer.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
  • Cheers for the replies :-)
£2k may seem cheap, but as I said I don't require the design or fitting service (Which is usually included in prices at places like Magent etc).

This price is just cabinets (Including handles & doors)

I'll keep my eyes open for deals and ex-show models etc :-)
  • Best time to buy them is to see when the kitchen cabinet stores are giving discount, as that is a best time to get those things at a reasonable price.
