I believe rugdoctor is supposed to be very good but I have never used one. Google "rug doctor" for places from which to hire.

We though have found a cheap steam cleaner meets our needs.

Never seen them in my morrisons fairly big store but I have seen them else where, in smaller store

I have a carpet cleaner (hoover) had it years but it does play up. I tried various ones for hire at those tool hire stores and tbh they aint much better.

Our carpets are good quality and we have had no problems.

Problem with steam cleaners are that if used on a wool carpet there is a high chance of shrinkage, ruining the carpet, different types of carpet require different types of cleaning. Be careful.

We hired a rug doctor from our local Johnsons for £20 (24 hr hire) and £10 for enough solution for 2 stair carpets on one bedroom. Couldn't believe the dirt that came out. Would thouroghly recommend them.
