Quick Npower question
I currently have my electricity with Npower on the price fix April 2015; my gas is with Ebico.
Does anyone know if NPower's computer might have a tantrum if I keep PF2015 for electricity but switch my gas to them on the price protector December 2017 tariff?

I have each fuel on a separate tariff with nPower.
It makes a nonsense of the Ofgem reforms - absolutely no obligation to tell customers of the 60% cheaper deal if you do not have both fuels on the same tariff.0 -
Thanks
glad they are able to cope with a different tariff for each fuel... I could just about picture their computer go "OMFG you want to do what???" then keel over and die or something :rotfl:
Not bothered about the ofgem "obligation" frankly. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
Right, transfer requested for the gas - will only save me a few £ over the Ebico prices this winter but at least it won't go up for quite a while and given the no tie in/no exit penalty I can always move if gas prices suddenly collapse :rotfl:
Just hoping that they don't take it upon themselves to change my electricity tariff at the same time
Now, what to do with the £5 I'm saving :think:Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -

oooh what's this ??? I have gas & elec with npower on a dual fuel deal is there a cheaper way if I have them separately then ???0 -
It can work out cheaper not to have dual fuel - I always check combined and each fuel separately when doing a comparison. Could be worth going with different companies for each fuel, or different tariffs within the same company, like always, it depends on your usage and region.
Actually, I can't even remember when was the last time I had both fuels on the same tariff from a single supplier. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -

Eg (exact figures will vary by region):
Nov 2014 standing charges £140 electricity, £85 gas - total £225
Apr 2015 standing charges £40 electricity, £215 gas - total £255
But the pick 'n' mix total is only £85 - saving you up to £170 on standing charges!
Caveat: of course, cost per kWh comes into play for 'normal' users and these are shorter fixes - for average users different gambles may be more important. And there is another £95 direct debit discount to come off (but that is £95 plus VAT regardless of useage.)0
