@ Shimrod - Many thanks! I joined at spg and saved a lot. I booked Sheraton Centre finally through them and they had a Canada Day offer on site as well so paid CAD $350 for 2 nights!

@ Balsingh - timely post - many thanks as was still not sure to book shuttle. Is it really that cheap on bus & metro? The hotel told me shuttle bus drops people off 2 blocks away and not at the hotel. Does anyone know which is the best station to get off to get to Sheraton Centre?

Good morning: For the Sheraton, you need to get off the subway at Osgoode http://www.toronto.ca/ttc/pdf/siyw_junejuly_2007.pdf

I stayed at the Sheraton while at a conference last year. The breakfast was not included and expensive. Instead I went to the bagel place in the basement shopping area.

As for transport, I got a cab from the airport for $50.

Thanks tryptase - My booking doesn't include breakfast and was also going to go outside to eat. Taxi is not an option as too expensive - can get a return journey by shuttle if booked prior.

How much is normal to tip in Canada? 10% - anyone? Sorry for asking so many questions.

When we stayed at the Delta Chelsea it was without breckfast, we went across the road to the childrens hospital and had breckfast for $4.50, and it was 1st class.

Good evening: Tipping... 10-15% but don't tip on total bill as it will include tax at 15%. Usually, your server will come over while you are eating (invariably while you have your mouth full)to ask 'how is everything?'...if it is rubbish, substandard, tasteless then tell him/her...if the service has been pants then don't tip. The Rough Guide site has some good info on Canada/Toronto (quite funny for a Canadian to read in spots actually.i.e. how other people see us ;)http://www.roughguides.co.uk/website/travel/destination/content/?titleid=84&xid=idh293115224_0073

When using the public transport it is well to know that if you pick up a transfer slip either on tram /bus or underground you can move between all modes on one continuous journey for the one price,eg. we travelled from the Harbourfront by Tram(street car)to Union Station where we got on the underground to Eglington. Then changed to a bus for the Science centre all for the cost of one fare which is under $3.
