switching whilst in credit
we're with npower, afters todays price increase we compared other companies and found a fixed price deal we'd quite like, thing is though we logged in to our npower account and found out we're £655 in credit, what would happen to that is we switch? would it be carried over? a cheque send or money debited into our account?

They'd give you the money back, usually directly into your bank account. It wouldn't carry over to a new company.0

I'm in the same situation. So they give you it back automatically - you don't need to let them know they owe it you? I can just go ahead with the switch with no worries of losing the money in credit?0

They usually do but they may not. You have to check that they do. If by a couple of weeks after the starting date your new supplier gives you you haven't received any a gently reminder may be needed.
In my experience with npower they tend to send cheques (even for direct debit accounts.)
You should, of course, also double check final bills and first bills to ensure the end/start reads match so that you do not receive a revised demand months (or years) later.0 -

Hello john_d,
If you move to another supplier, once the final reading is agreed with us we will close your account and any money that remains in credit will be issued to you.
The amount of credit on your account at the moment may not available as your account will need to be final billed. The amount will all depend on how much you have used since your last bill up until you leave.
Thanks
Carmel
