My turn to give a bit of help this time. For those who are as computer-illiterate as myself - I have just discovered Google Pack. Access by googling with words "Google Pack" and its first entry that comes up on the search. Through this - I have got myself a bit more security for free - ie the Spyware Doctor Starter Edition (says it detects and removes spyware, adware, trojans, keyloggers).
Procedure is: once the Google Pack page comes up on screen click the "add or remove software" link near the "Download Google Pack" button to customise installation - ie stop Google downloading bits you don't want as well. On the following page, uncheck all the boxes they have ticked for the bits you don't want - but ensure there is a tick in the box next to the "Spyware Doctor" programme. There is another page at some point - where they have put a tick in boxes by other Google bits that you need to untick (by clicking on the box) as well. Even I found the procedure easy - just that minor aggro of having to untick those other boxes. (You might want to have other bits as well - the other bits are Google Desktop, Google Toolbar, Mozilla Firefox, Norton Security, Picasa (photo organiser), Google photos screensaver, Adobe Reader).
Just pointing out re the unticking boxes - as I found myself the unwilling recipient of a Google toolbar automatically in place before because of their habit of having a default tick in box - took illiterate me a bit of doing to get my toolbar back to normal.
