Developer near my maisonette wants to take pictures inside and out of my home....

Options
Sorry didn't know where to post this!!!

Ok so there is a large development hapenning about 30 metres from where we live and they are going to be doing some drilling! and so they are wanting to check what condition our house is in before they start, such as cracks etc... from what i understand they are just going to take pictures not a survey! but i don't think i want them coming in taking pictures of my home, or should i let them? where do i stand if cracks start to appear after they start work? but no survey(pictures) was done!
plus i have to take a day off work for them to do it as i can't just take 5 minutes of my time during the week, i work to far away. so i told him i am only available weekends....

Any advice will be much appreciated.
ewwwww what is that...

I imagine they are wanting to take photographs for their own benefit rather than yours. Just tell them you'll be taking your own photographs for your own records.

You should let them take the photos (they're only wanting to cover themselves against false claims from the drilling), on the proviso that:

    1. You get copies of all photos taken of and in your property, AND

    2. They cover the cost of you having to take a day off work to allow them to take the photos.

Out of interest, if you are willing to take lots of photos of your home and send to them, what is the issue with them taking the photos? Is it just the inconvenience of the day off?

Do you have legal cover with your home insurance?

If I were you have I would give them a ring and ask their advice.

At least if they take the photo's (in your presence) there will be no argument about authenticity if at a later date they are required.

I guess the photos will be dated.

Definitely ask for copies. And ask for them about compensating for you to take the time off work or get them to come evening/weekend.

    Good point.
In fact the insurance company might want to know what's going on. They may want input into what's allowed so close to your property.

Yep don't really want to take a day off work just for this, i have been saving them for xmas, grrr

Well if i take the pictures and send them, it shouldn't be a problem! I will wait for his phone call he said he might be able to arrange a weekend visit....

Hopefully they wont put up my premium when they know there is more risk of damage to my home!

That would be another claimable item against the drilling people. ;)
