How to get black scuff marks off Vinyl floor?

Options
We have vinyl flooring in our living room and it's covered in black scuff marks from people walking in with black shoes on!

Before buying rugs/mats to protect the flooring in future, I've been trying and failing to remove the marks...

I've tried steam mopping it, bicarb of soda, vinegar, bleach, Lakeland's Miracle Cloth and even one of those magic eraser blocks, but they are so stubborn and I can't shift them :(

Has anyone had a similar issue and managed to remove the marks? I would really appreciate any advice!

Have you tried WD40. It's very good with awkward marks. You'll need to clean the floor well afterwards or it might be a bit of a skating rink. ;)

  • toothpaste is great or a scourer. you can get soft cushion sticker to stick on the bottom of chair legs etc, hope this helps.
  • I've used sticky-stuff-remover to remove black scuff marks from our UPVC doors. it's a solvent of some kind, so check it in a small area first, but does a good job.
