I'm presently on fixed price BUT want to booked a fixed rate to start when that ends?

Hello ALL,

I'm presently nearing the end of a nearly 3 year fixed price with EDF energy called the Fixed Price 2014.

EDF energy told me that this will end in March 2014. I asked if i can book to start on a new Fixed plan now, to start when this ends and they informed myself that this is not possible!

I'm eager to plan ahead, and realise theres been 30-37% price hikes since i locked in nearly 3 years ago.

Does anyone know of how i may fix now to start when this finishes in March 2014 as i'm trying to beat this next 10% hike for the future and more !!

cheers craig

    Cannot be done.

Do comparisons now. There are fixes around that may be cheaper than your current fix and last longer.
  • simple answer you cant fix now n start when deals ends,
    you have 2 choices,
    1. stick with the deal until nearer time and switch with about 4-5 weeks left on current deal so you get nearly all your current deal.
2.switch now and lose your current deal for your new fixed deal

As others have said, it can't be done.

However, I don't think EDF have any early exit fees so if you want a new fixed plan, you can start it today without penalty (other than presumably the higher cost of the new tariff)
  • Thanks Guys :)

I used all your advice! :D

1 had 6 months left i.e March 2104. I decided that fixing in for as long as possible to 2017 was the best.

I decidedf that sneaking in for 4 years at pre their 'above to arrive 10% hike' and saving at least this hike for 4 years would save us more money than keeping this the previous 2 years lock in for another 6 months !!

    Money Saved indeed :)

Many thanks for that extra nudge and time saving

What, no corporal punishment and beheading?
They will just pay themselves in gold, not pay taxes and spend it in the Bahamas.
  • I've just done exactly the same as you. Was on EDF Fixed Price 2014 due to expire March next year but was anticipating payments to go up £20 per month if not more so decided to fix until March 2017. Yes my payments have increased by £20 monthly so now I'm working on reducing my consumption.
