Wife uses 3 kWh of electricity a day

My wife is on holiday so I am all alone, AHH!

Our normal electricity usage is 11 kWh a day.

Since she's been gone it has dropped to 8 kWh a day.

And the gas usage has dropped as well, 20 kWh less a day.

Now to persuade her that the TV doesn't need to be on all day, I watch TV on my computer and she should drink less tea and coffee.

And have the heating at 18 deg C instead of 21 deg C

If I go to work instead of working from home, my daily kWh usage drops by 1-2. An incentive if there ever was one!

So that means you are still using 8kWh a day?

Fair enough you save gas by having the heating lower, that makes sense but as mentioned before have you considered the house work your wife does and uses electricity?

On that basis, YOU'RE using 8, and you're moaning about her using 3?

Definite grounds for divorce - but from her side :D
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard

If you wear your pants for 3 days instead of 1 before washing you'll cut the amount of energy used by the washing machine by a significant amount.
  • Normal Electricity is the one for Two people, but quoted is for one that is you.

  • It does make me smile the op, sounds as though you are ready to boot her out to save money.

In all seriousness your usage sounds about fair. On good days me and my partner use 8/9KWH at weekends it can be 14KWH ( more TV, Cutting the lawn, Washing machine etc)

One of my friends said that he is going to get solar panels fitted from Ikea soon. From what I was told it was about 5500 for installation and a certain amount of years guarantee.

I think he said something like after 8 years they would have paid for themselves.
