  • The £5 or so an hour is at John Lewis/Q-park carpark in the Liverpool One which is pretty expensive but in a good location for the store.

Just got off the phone with JL and I'm very disappointed in their customer service. I had a shop assistant that didn't seem at all interested in my problem. Told me I can either have a refund or pay the extra money to receive the right item... why on earth should I have to do that? I have paid for an item and received the wrong one.. it isn't my fault and I am now without the machine I originally thought I was paying for.

I would just use the thing if it does what you require. Not worth all the messing about.
  • The thing is it doesn't do what I want, I bought it because it has buttons that automatically dispense the right amount of coffee based on what drink you want. The one I have just dispenses until you tell it to stop so without a proper espresso/lungo cup you end up with something too strong/too weak.

I bought a nestcafe krups dolce gusto machine in tesco the other day reduced from £119 to £43. It is all automatic like you say, does the right amount of coffee to milk. Why not take yours for a refund and get one of them?

it is just the inconvinience (A round trip to Liverpool costs me £3.20 in fares for the tunnel, plus about £5 an hour for parking.)

I made a point of parking in their "Customer pick up car park" round the back. The ladies in the customer pick up area were a bit churlish, but I explained I needed to go into the store and return an item that didn't work, and as the item was only £20, I hoped they'd understand that I didn't want to be out of pocket when it was thier fault, and they told me "To please be quick"

Don't ask permission before hand as they'll say no. :rotfl:

This is the one I bought but was £43 in tesco extra in Stockport. Maybe it's store only offer.

JL's 'Never Knowingly Undersold' guarantee means that they always give you the lowest price if it is cheaper in-store or on their website.

I am going to give them a call before going into the store. I'm confident they will sort it out for me, JL are known for their great customer service.

Actually their policy as written applies to competitor pricing, there's nothing that suggests price matching between JL stores and online is allowed (and I believe I've read previously on here that they have rejected claims on that basis). However, it's certainly worth asking.

  • Well I am back from JL and to be frank I am shocked at their poor customer service. The manager spoke to me as though I was a naughty school child, refused to give me the right machine unless I paid the difference and insisted that it was reduced as it was a returned item.

In the end I got a refund and £10 for petrol/parking fees. I am annoyed as now I have no coffee machine and I am still out of pocket.

The tassimo machine that you've mentioned looks like a good buy, but it is an espresso machine I am after as I'm not into all of the fancy hot chocolates and flavoured coffees.

I am writing to JL's head office- do I have any right to want the machine I was led to believe I was buying at the cost I was told I would pay??

A refund for the product and £10 seems a pretty good deal.

Agreed - they don't have an equivalent open box product to give the OP so they put her back to her original position. Seems fair to me.
