You're right there MiT - it was wanting to keep my weekly 'general spend' money that has lasted 2 weeks and knowing I've got a spendy time coming up as well.

I'm going to wear the new top on Thursday night for our evening out :D and still working on the best way to travel there and back. Train looks to be about 2 hrs, though motorway at rush hour is probably not going to be much less. Might end up doing the same as DB and parking just outside of London and taking the train for the last bit. Will phone him!

Roasted the YS organic chicken for dinner tonight - it was really meaty and DS had plenty on the thigh whilst I had a leg. Lots left over, so we'll easily get a casserole tomorrow night and a curry or 2 on Tuesday.

Wed - HM cheese and onion potato cakes with veg
Thur - we'll have to eat when we get to London I think as no time before we leave, but will take some snacky things and water
Fri - using up rest of scampi with chips and peas
Sat - making batch chilli, so one of those with rice and garlic bread, providing I don't forget to defrost mince again :rotfl:

    Financials today then:
    - bank account checked out of habit :D
    - freepostcodelottery checked
    - Nectar adpoints - a little extra and up to 68
    - Nectar card - £45.03
    - Inbox Pounds - up to £4.99
    - Qmee - another 10p

This week coming is going to be expensive.

Tues - Hygienist appt @ £50. It was a budgeted spend back in November and kept moving so I should be happy I've held onto it for an extra few months :D
Thur - Travel/food/souvenir (DS wants something apparently)
Sat - Pick up and pay for Mothers Day basket of flowers - DB has given me his half, so just my £20 to add to it.

    Still to sort:
    - eyebrow thread, hair cuts and DS trousers :rotfl: None of which I can put off any longer.

I'm back to keeping lists, having neglected them with feeling unwell, so hopefully will start to get a few things done beyond the routine stuff.

On an MSE note, I did take advantage of a freebie hot chocolate at the dealership whilst my car was valeted and the rain stayed away until after dark. And only had to iron 2 items :D

Everything ready for DS for the morning and the doglets are snoozing away. :)

Monday night and the day has flown by. All the best laid plans for doing admin and business planning today were thrown out the window in favour of billable client work. :j Can't complain when that happens and a good work day as it turned out as more to follow on the back of it.

Didn't get to the bank to deposit the cheque that arrived Saturday - will have to wait until tomorrow or possibly Wednesday.

    Financials today:
    - bank account checked
    - freepostcodelottery checked - anyone knew there's a second mini draw for £10 between 6-10pm? I didn't, but do now! Didn't win that either though :rotfl:
    - Nectar adpoints and canvass - not looked at
    - Nectar card - same at £45.03
    - Inbox Pounds - up a tiny bit to £5.11 but task errors appearing
    - Qmee - another 10p on the back of IP :D Love it!

We ran out of milk after dinner tonight, so I took a quick trip to Sburys. Wow, so quiet and empty in there and a fair few YS items around the store. So milk 6p dearer than Ald! at £1.48 for 6 pints, but that's 50p cheaper than it used to be so not complaining. Also picked up:

2 x hair shampoo and conditioners - I think there's a price glitch as it was 2 for £6 on shampoo and 2 for £4 on conditioner, however till receipt shows it has charged 2 for £4 on both. Whoop!

YS items - 4 bramleys 50p (will either make apple crumble myself or give to mum to make :D hers are far superior!), 6 pack Warburtons large hot dog rolls 29p and 2 bakery Eccles cakes at 59p. Sweet tooth satisfied tonight ;)

Didn't fancy any of the YS meat I saw, though a lovely large piece of beef half price at £10.25 did catch my eye, but I've already got a YS bit of the same in the freezer, so walked away. :D

Spent £10.86 total and used a double points voucher. The shampoo and conditioner joins a stash I got before Christmas so should last me into the summer now :D Will update grocery sig in a moment, but still £20 within budget and last of the month's shop will be done either tomorrow night or Wednesday.

Hope everyone has had a good start to the week :)

  • I got the sainsbury's shampoo and conditioner in the pump dispenser. 1 litre each for £1.50 each one. Best buy ever as my kids use tonnes of shampoo and this bottle lasted for 5 weeks :D. I was going through at least a bottle ( sometimes 2) a week before. I have a few bottles of various ones stashed as well now. So hopefully be okay until summer as well :D

Another day that's flown by and I've only just taken my shoes off!

Hygienist appointment was cancelled yet again (think that's 5 times now) as she was off sick. I haven't made a new appointment as yet.

I did though make a dry trim and eyebrow thread appointment for first thing tomorrow with the old hairdressers. Wanted to use the mobile lady but she's not got back to me and I've left a couple of messages now.

Finally decided on transport for Thursday eve - going by train and tube. I'll take a pack up and we can eat on the journey down. I can get off peak travel cards for £20 for both of us from the local tourist info office in the morning. Plus bank that cheque that's been hanging around since Saturday.

Work meeting in the afternoon and that'll be tomorrow gone before I know it. :D

    Financials for today then:
    - bank account checked
    - freepostcodelottery checked
    - Nectar adpoints - 34 to start the week off
    - Nectar Canvass - still not looked :o
    - Nectar Card - up to £45.23 but adpoints hasn't credited yet
    - Inbox Pounds - up to £5.64
    - Qmee - nothing more at the moment

Made chicken curry with the LO chicken tonight and got an extra portion out of that for the freezer. So 4 good sized meals from a YS chicken. Happy with that.

I've done the weekly shop in Ald! tonight and spent £16.14. That should be it for the month, but won't declare on the grocery challenge thread just yet. Will update sig in a moment with that.

Yet to properly meal plan for next week, but I ran through the freezer inventory list and picked 5 things that will have either veg, wedges or chips, rice or pasta with them - have got all those in, so we're sorted and it'll work out fine (so I'm telling myself anyway :rotfl:).

The cooking apples are staying with me and I'm going to attempt to make individual apple crumbles. Wish me luck :rotfl: Probably at the weekend.

Hope everyone has had a good day :)

Ooh, I shall have to take a look at that for the future. I've heard good things about Tresemme but not tried it. I'm into L'Oreal Elvive Trimology (or something) - I've very fine hair that is departing my head at a rate of knots and it's supposed to thicken from the inside out. No idea if it's working really, but do like the silky smooth feel and it seems to hydrate it. :)

On my personal trip this morning (hair, eyebrows, tourist info office and bank) I might just have come across a business for sale that I've been kind of trying to buy for the past 12 years! First one fell through at the last minute, second one price wasn't right. Is this 3rd time lucky?

So I now have a business bank chap appointment for Thurs 3rd to look at a business loan to buy it. I'm picking up the last set of accounts on Saturday and then I can start delving into whether it's viable. Definitely lots of potential, it's whether I have the time and what money it'll take to exploit it and if I want to learn the new skills to be able to work in it.

Not very MSE to be looking at taking on debt, but speculate to accumulate wher business is concerned and the real positive is the ability to be a sleeping owner and incentivise the manager to grow it and make more profit.:D

Who saw that coming...certainly not me! :rotfl: Let's see what happens next.

Right, got to dash - work beckons. :)

Back to the task in hand, after the flurry of excitement this morning.

Eyebrows threaded, hair cut, travelcards for tomorrow bought and Inbox Pounds cheque and £10 of 20p's safely deposited in the bank.

Spent £17 on hair/eyebrows, £20 on rail travel. I've got £50 to take with us tomorrow night which should be more than enough, though if DS wants a keep sake programme and t-shirt, there may not be much change. Also alot of these venues don't allow you to take your own drink through, so we'll probably have to buy a bottle of water 'on the other side' (of security). And I'll need to pay for car parking at the station - £6.50. Hope it's a great night after all the costs.

I've taken a couple of the YS large hot dog rolls out of the freezer that I bought Monday evening and am going to cook some sausages late tomorrow afternoon and wrap them in foil, so we've got warm hotdogs to eat on the train down. I'll pop some other nibbles in my bag and water.

Back to today and financials then:
    - bank account checked
    - freepostcodelottery checked
    - Nectar adpoints checked - nothing extra today
    - Nectar Canvass - next stop!
    - Nectar card - up to £45.57
    - Inbox Pounds - a good jump up to £6.81- lots of tasks came in after the error problems and a couple of short surveys
    - Qmee - another 5p in the pot

Think that's all the news for today. Masterchef starts again tonight, so looking forward to that.

Hope everyone has had a good day. :)
