It's such a gem that you could have posted it. Can you assure us that you don't make comment on Express articles?

Hah, I just had to go back and check who the author was. It seems that there's more than one person capable of that level of muddling in the world, this was a chap called "deg" from Valetta, Malta.

    Wonders never cease.

The population of London is only 45% white British. That means that there is more Johnny foreigner than indigenous population.

London is not really like the rest of Britain.
True and in most places different ethnicities are grouped into areas. However looking at the actual British passport holders shows London must closer to the UK average. ~75% vs ~85%

I googled him. This is what came up.

Come on .... I cannot believe anyone can live on £25,000! There's plenty of work not declared, plenty of earnings not listed, plenty of black market goings on .........

A young couple are going to be on £35,000 each, that's £70,000 x 3.5 multiple = £245,000 ...... £25,000 gift from Mum and Dad, £10,000 savings and you can quite easily see that it all adds up perfectly.
That easily gets you a one or two bed close to the centre of London. This is a very realistic scenario in London and probably one of the most common. The deposit may also come from entirely savings. 3.5x is not stretching finances either.

Again, what's so hilarous about the comment? It's even described as "priceless". What's the joke?

    I simply don't get it.

And you can make something of the above sentence as you so wish, but please answer the question put forward while doing so!

The people living either side of me are old. Their houses suit the needs of old people. When they die/go into a home and their houses are sold the new buyers will be a family (the houses have large gardens) and they will spend a minimum of £100k to£200k doing a loft conversion, extension and general updating. I guarantee it. This spending of £100k to £200k will increase the value of their house - this is not house price inflation - this is a genuine change in the value of the houses because the houses themselves have changed. Real value has been added. This is happening all over London.

The London property market really isn't all about house price inflation. London really has and is changing.

Where did you get that figure from? Also, just because someone has a booklet saying that they have a British passport, doesn't make them indigenous British.

Just like I could probably get a passport from Lagos or Lahore, but that wouldn't really make me a Nigerian or Pakistani.

London gov and ONS gov websites. My point is it is racist to define some as British by skin colour.
