Im sure your Canadian friend can answer all these questions for you.
Tax would be payable.Friendly greeting!0 -
You would have to pay carraige, import duty and VAT on the item plus the carraige. You could possibly claim canadian tax back but I'm not sure how.0
-
You would also need to check the voltage - make sure the power supply is universal and not just 110V - while we're used to having universal ones in the UK, in North America they will sometimes reduce costs by only using a 110V one.
Oh, and you'll need new power cables too.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

Plus a fee to the courier/shipper company to process the importation (not cheap) and that will also have vat added on !
Shipping charges are based on volume not necessarily weight.
Your £600 saving could very well dwindle and what happens if it goes wrong ?! you will have to ship it back at your own expense.0 -
what exact model & spec. is it?
are you sure its £600 more in UK?0 -
What are the terms of the warranty?
You may not be able to get it fixed in the UK if it 'packs up' but be obliged to send it back to Canada for repair.0 -
Dell XPS 27 is £1799 here and $1999.99 i Canada, also the machine comes in two other configurations in Canada and not here.
Thanks to everyone for the replies on the pitfalls but why the big difference in price0 -
Also remember most US and Canadian prices are excluding VAT and other local Taxes. So they usually get added on at the end.
so that £600 difference dwindles quickly.
So you'll be paying Canadian tax as well as a UK Customs import charge (which is usually around the same as VAT) and add international shipping. So it might be cheaper looking through a cashback site...Laters
