Friend has recieived a shocking electricity bill, 3 times what she normally pays per quarter. The only thing she can think that she's done differently is streaming film and tv shows. Curious to know how much this activity impacts on electricity usage. Anyone know?

Not much. Assuming a desktop with a fairly decent size screen...maybe 100W average... 24 hours a day 7 days a week over 13 weeks (3 months) @ 15p/kWh would cost £33.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

many thanks....sounds like you know your stuff. will pass that on...
she has a laptop and streams everything through it: music, films, tv series. it's basically her entertainment unit, which is on most of the day. but like you say, even 24/7 shouldn't have such a huge impact.0
