    It doesn't matter how long you've been with them (nor whether you pay by monthly instalments) - if you cancel part way through a policy you'll almost certainly be penalised. You need to work out whether it's worth your while incurring an early redemption penalty to get a better deal elsewhere or whether to wait until your exisiting policy is due for renewal before switching. ;)
