hi JIL! Good to hear from you and hope you are well too :) Would your holiday not be cheaper if you book some time ahead (ie now)? :( Don't know, just my thought. Two weeks in the sun sounds lovely - where do you think you might go? ...

I do keep looking on the websites. Part of me just wants to book it and that's it. Just looking at Spain, Greek islands, Balearics, Canaries. Somewhere warm with things to do and see. Its payday next week. Have a few things to mull over so may sort something out next weekend.
    Keep saving all.

Its boiling hot and sunny here.

    Just sayin' :D

    That sounds fab.

It is supposed to be hot here in late april (SW fL USA) but hasn't been.

Has actually been cold enough to NOT need a/c (so very MSE lol). It has been 70s to low 80' which I do not mind and actually find to be perfect,

Since you are not a children, so I would say you to think you by yourself. Look on some points what you are spending money without any reason. Notice everyday and write down in the Notebook. By doing you can save your money.

oooh thanks JoJoC!!! I will make that cake very soon and take it in to work. Sounds absolutely yummy :) I love baking too, and kiwi fruit, and cakes with icing, so, basically the combination is unbeatable! :)

I'm being so productive that i'm actually quite tired :D but it's good, I had a couple of weeks off late last year and got nothing done and kicked myself afterwards for just wasting the time off. I feel much better when i'm on top of things

Annoyed with the weather though, i've been painting the front of the house this week (especially the woodwork, which has really suffered this winter) and i'm halfway done but can't do anything more until the rain eases and it all dries out again :(

I had a very lazy day today, which was planned - I've been feeling quite tired and haven't had a "down time" day where I feel mentally free to just think of whatever for quite a while. It has been really good, actually - spent quite a large proportion of it resting but now I feel recharged and ready to face the week. So if it was me I wouldn't feel too bad about a non-productive holiday because that is part of the point of holidays - to relax. Still, I know what you mean about liking to be on top of things. :)

Painting the house sounds like hard work. Mine will need painting at some point in the next couple of years but I will deal with that one when it comes up! :)

Cathybird - it has been difficult for so many people sadly. We were lucky that we had savings, assets and a plan :p

I too have a Kindle - it works well with insomnia and reading without waking OH up :o I still prefer paper books, especially as I read in the bath most nights. Big fan of Awesome Books and also the Book People.

The bank book for the new ISA has arrived so I have transferred the round £50 from the emergency fund and set up a standing order for a nominal amount. I also changed quidco to pay into that account, only a few pounds here and there but still useful.

Oooh, haven't tried Awesome Books - this could get dangerous :) I love the Book People. I am trying to behave myself though, having pledged to read the books I haven't read before buying any more. :)

Quidco and Topcashback are very useful - only a few pounds, as you say, but it does add up. Well done on starting the Isa - I bet the amount in there builds up in no time :)

Ha, ha :) Lucky it's been a lovely day in London today or I'd feel quite jealous!! I love Cornwall though so am jealous anyway. So lush and green! Where I live is quite green but it's still in pressured, overcrowded London. :)

All of those places sound absolutely beautiful - I'd love to go to the Greek Islands though think I would aim for off-season probably, just to avoid the crowds. Do let us know what you decide to do - sounds exciting :)

I think in Celcius but that's low 20s, yes? Sounds perfect to me too - I don't like it when it gets too hot. Very kind of the weather to be so moneysaving for you, atush :)

Well I've done a bit of cooking today despite my lazy day, have made an asparagus tart as a practice run to see if it's nice enough to serve up to friends coming over for lunch in a couple of weeks' time - yes it is, it's really yummy, and will also supply me with lunches at work this week. Also I have made a tomato salad and a red pepper and feta salad. And now I am feeling quite virtuous :A Actually re Lomcevak painting his house, about the nearest I've got to that today is filling in a hole in the kitchen wall with some fillerinera stuff, which I am doing in stages just to give it a chance to dry (it's quite a big hole, left by a power socket and electric wotsit which got taken out of the wall). So actually despite being lazy I suppose my day has been a bit productive, after all that.
