Updating an electricity meter

Hi there,

I'm hoping someone can help!

We are currently on an Economy 10 meter (i.e. two different rates) but do not have night storage heating. The issue we face is apparently our supplier, nPower, doesn't support this type of meter so can only provide electricity on at the Standard Variable Rate - the most expensive - and so each time prices go up, so does our bill! We've tried changing suppliers, but they all say they can't support Economy 10.

My question is who is responsible for updating our meter, allowing us to have access to fixed price deals? I've seen that if you're asking for the meter to be physically moved, it is my responsibility but we're not looking for that, just for it to be updated.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ian

It's yours. You need to ask your supplier to change it for a standard credit meter. It'll cost you about £50 plus any remedial electrical work that will need doing if required.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
