Rant - Freecycle users

The only problems Ive ever had with freecycle are people who dont want to travel to me to collect it. Im not a driver and a couple of times Ive done a bus trip 6 miles each way because the other person wasnt a driver either and didnt want to travel to me to get it.
But most people have come to me to collect things and if I was ever going to be in another town in the passing Ive arranged to meet them there.
People contact you to say they want the thing but won't come and get it? Really? I wouldn't deal with them, personally!*Look for advice, not 'advise'*
*Could/should/would HAVE please!*

I guess I've been really lucky compared to some here. I live in an outer London suburb & often advertise my unwanted items on 2 my own & a neighbouring borough's freecycle boards. I've never had anybody not turn up.
The one irritating incident I had was earlier this year when some friends came to take up the carpet & underlday that was in the living room of my new home.
Carpet was excellent quality, only a couple of years old & being a big room, very large. I mentioned on freecycle that as it was very large and very heavy so anybody interested would need to have a van at their disposal & would take at least 2 strong people to remove it. One woman contacted me & said she wanted it & her husband had a large car. I told her it wouldn't fit, definitely needed a van & at least 2 people to shift. Well she kept sending me begging emails, which eventually I ignored. I wasn't having anybody coming to collect only to find they couldn't fit it in their car & just dumping it by the roadside.
The next person who I offered it to did manage to send somebody with a van but he arrived alone so ended up having to arrange to come back next day with somebody to help him.
Like some others here, when I do offer things I never offer to the first people who contact me. I wait til I've had quite a few responses & then make my decision on who to offer to by reading their reasons for wanting & whether they say please or thank you.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Glad it's not just me, some people can be such a pain. People claiming to have emailed me when they didn't, and "please call me on xxx" - no I'm not calling you. And not turning up etc. Argh!0

Stick it outside- tell them it's outside-that'll hurry them up0
