'Struggling' in what way? Do you get error messages?

Let's start with the obvious - is the optical drive in your PC definitely a DVD writing drive? It's not a DVD-ROM (read-only) drive?

If this is confirmed, have you successfully written ANY other DVD disc on this machine? If so, what did you write to disc, and what software did you use?

    Oh I feel your pain.

Windows 8 is not the simplest OS when you want to burn CD's, as I found.

You can do it as you used to be able to in xp/2007 by selecting all, clicking on the 'share' tab at the top, clicking the 'burn to disc' icon, then when they are in the temp folder you need to click on the 'manage' tab and click the 'finish burning' icon.

Sounds simple, but it's a bloody nightmare, half the time it won't even recognise a disc, then it tells you you need to format the disc, it's so hit and miss, I've been pulling my hair out with this for the last week or two. Just when you think it's working fine it goes back to not working.

Recommendation is that you use windows media player to burn, but TBH, that just turns what used to be such a simple 2 click task from the desktop into a multi-step PITA.

I don't know if you can tell, but I'm really not impressed with this aspect of W8 ;)
