Freeview channels over sky tv

I'm coming to the end of my 12-month contract with sky and currently pay £15 per month for 2 "packages". If I stop paying after the contract is up, can I still continue to receive all the Freeview channels for nothing, considering that the dish and sky box are mine to keep? Or can sky switch those off?
And if I pay sky for a sky+ box and installation (about £160 I think), can I then watch Freeview with sky+ for £10 per month?
Sorry, I'd ask sky directly but I wouldn't necessarily expect a straight answer, as it's not in their interest to push that option.
Very grateful for any advice.
Thanks

Answer to question 1 is Yes, your card will act as a Freesat Card and allow you to watch Ch 4, Ch 5's x3, and Sky 3, all other free channels are free to air anyway.
Answer to question 2 is Yes, £10 per month to use recording facilities on Sky+.
There are some deals around at the moment for Sky+, take a look on this forum.;)0 -
Don`t just stop paying at the end of the contract though - Sky want a months notice. They may offer you a deal to stay when you cancel. If not, then they will afterwards anyway. I cancelled and a couple of months later was offered 6 `packages` for £10.50 pm.
When I was no longer with Sky, I still got all the freeview channels. And you still get all the digital radio stations.0 -
Thanks guys - will certainly take your advice.
I guess it's getting more and more competetive, so it pays to play hard to get.

Don't confuse Freeview (Terrestrial) with Freesat from Sky (Satellite) you do NOT get the same range of channels on both. For example you will not get E4 or More4 on Freesat, whereas you will on Freeview.
You can see the Freesat channels here:http://www.freesatfromsky.com/?pID=3That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Also bear in mind that if you are paying £5pm for the Sky Talk unlimited service, then this is only available to paying Sky TV customers0

Is sky sports news still available on freeview? Mine seems to have stopped working.0

Just an additional note...I cancelled my SkyTV today and they make you wait the statutory 30 days before you can actually walk away which I expected, however...
THEY CANCEL YOUR SKYTALK IMMEDIATELY!
I asked what kind of stupid policy was that where they make me wait 30 days for the TV yet they terminate SkyTalk immediately and they said "I don't really know, it's part of the conditions". Great help.
I did point out that since I was a paying customer until the end of my 30 days surely they are obliged to leave me with SkyTalk since their terms also say it is only available to paying customers but they didn't seem to have an answer. That's what I get for thinking the people that answer the phones might actually know their behind from their arm-corner :mad:0 -

I don't see how they can demand notice to end the contract, when they can add channels etc straight away!
To be fair to the people on the phones, they're probably relaying whatever policy Sky give them to tell you without explaining it to them very well!0 -

Get a clue pal. You really think the people on the phones (me being one) make the rules? many companies require 30 days notice to cancel some dont....bt require 2 weeks....crazy isnt it! if Skys that bad you shouldnt of been with them in the first place...let alone agreed to their contracts! You try staring at a screen for 10 hours a day for 12k and you find the incentive to recognise your butthole from ur elbow!!!0
