Hi All,
Thought I would share my recent experience with shop direct.
I recently moved home in March 2013 and needed a few more things than expected. I visited the Woolworths website, and took up the offer of Buy now pay later on a washer and tumble dryer. Everything was delivered fine and I was happy with overall service. It is due to be all paid off by March 2014 before interest starts, however I've already paid it all off now. I've been working hard on building my credit over the last year and have taken out credit cards with Vanquis and capital one. I've used the cards and then paid them straight off which has worked well for me. Last week when I visited the noddle website to check my credit report I noticed a late payment in March 2013 from shop direct and I wondered what the hell was going on. Through research I found that when you take advantage of buy now pay later you must pay the delivery charge near enough straight away or you are given a late mark. I was horrified so sent an email straight to Woolworth's who forwarded me to the credit team. I've not heard a dickey bird for around a week and yesterday I received a letter to say my file has been amended with Experian, equifax and call credit and would be visible within next 28 days. I logged back on to noddle yesterday as I have just cancelled my high interest credit cards, and noticed the mark on shop direct was now green. I was over the moon, this just goes to show that if you do act on credit marks then you may get some joy. Don't be afraid to ask, or bury your head it worked for me.
Noddle also said I had 7/10 chance for a Barclaycard Platinum purchase, so I applied and got accepted straight away with a £2,500 limit. So cancelling high interest cards were worth it.
Thanks for taking note of this post and sorry for the long story.
