So I have finally had a satisfactory reply from an LL (of sorts). He says that even though I paid the Letting Agent the deposit on the 18th of September, he only received it on the 21st of September. The LL has placed the money in DPS on the 21st of October and is saying that they have done so within 30 days. So I guess the money is in DPS and thats the important thing.
    Was that reply in writing?

Basically, that's no excuse. The letting agent, as the name implies, acts as an agent of the landlord. So the landlord is deemed to have received the deposit on 18/9, when you paid it. Not on 21/9. What happened between the LL and his agent is beyond your control and not your business anyway.

They do seem to be making it up as they go along.

I could just let it be now, or I could raise these issues.

Or I could just wait and if they cause problems later I could return to this. But is this a case that if I dont say anything now, the LL can later say that I accepted the terms at which the deposit was placed with the DPS?
