How long does homemade pie last please?

Hiya, I made cheese, veg and potato pie on Wednesday evening and have kept it in the fridge since. It is a solid pie with a shortcrust pastry top and base. It looks and tastes as good as when I made it three days ago.

So, how long will homemade pie last? Me and my hubby have eaten it today but my kids think it's been in too long.

Will it be OK tomorrow?

  • You can keep home made pies safely in the fridge for up to a week. Mine never last that long sadly
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

  • Yep, made a steak pie a few months ago, own pastry, the remains sat in the fridge for a week. Until my flatmate got his grubby little paws on it. Then it was demolished. He reliably informs me that it was delish even after a week. And now constantly begs me to make further pies for him... :-)

This is not something I would ever have to consider! There's only two of us but pie of any kind is my husband's favourite thing and any leftovers never hang around for very long :)

    Leftovers?? What are they?:D

As long as your fridge is reliable, I agree, a week is fine - though as others have said, it doesn't get put to the test in our house. I'm convinced Mr LW was a Labrador in a previous life.....

I know they last longer, but I never fancy them more than 3-4 days after they've been made as I get a bit 'nervous' about them.

But, as others have said, a week's fine.

I couldn't possibly eat a MEAT pie that had been in the fridge a week,

Decent fridge or not, it must be crawling with bacteria by then... Yak.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
