I wrote on the email I wanted to challenge the ticket as I'm sure we bought a ticket but as we weren't ticketed at the time we never kept the ticket as proof. we always just bin the tickets as they eventually clog up the glove box. They then said we need the driver details to which I couldn't remember because It was ages before and just before a very stressful hoilday/wedding so could they send a better picture. To which I then heard nothing for over 3 months (I wasnt gonna be chasing them) to them now saying I owe £ 100 as I own the car....

I agree with Daisy. Just name a driver and their address. Gets it rewound to a stage where that driver can appeal and then win at POPLA (so make sure they know to post and read on this forum and NOT to send a normal mitigating circumstances appeal at POPLA stage). They can appeal as you should have done first time round.

Please don't ask 'what's POPLA...?!' Simply read the first page of the forum and you will learn loads. The acronyms are all explained umpteen times over on sticky threads and other new threads.

Simply search the forum for the single keyword 'Peel'. How to search the forum and make it work for you, explained here:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/63500988#Comment_63500988

...read the recent results and you will learn even more from other people's appeals and how they won at POPLA or who they complained to at the Peel Centre. All of that will help you when the driver gets their own Notice posted out to them.

Don't know who was driving? Think about it a bit, decide who it was and send that letter.

Thanks for those with helpful replies. I have read lots of post about the peel centre and was worried about getting it wrong. Im still sure we bought a ticket but cant prove it

coupon:seems your questioning me that im 'not telling the truth on who was driving'. when you have rushed around all day here there and everywhere stressed to high heaven about having everything for the wedding and we equally drive to places I really dont know and im not lying.

I know what popla is. I was only looking for help!

Look we are trying to help you with this, we are not trying to trip you up, we are not saying you are lying. But we are only a few people trying to help hundreds a week, we don't have the time to spend on people who can't help themselves.

I'm going to be blunt here, and it's not personal honestly, if you cannot or will not to some degree not use self help then we can't help you, and frankly you are wasting our time.

You decide if you want help or not.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Coupon-mad is not accusing you of lying. She is trying to help you!
I suggest that you read some of the recent threads on the first page of this forum, and familiarise yourself with the issues and the general procedure. If you still need help at that point, come back.

  • the bottom line was very patronising and questioning

I have read many threads and didn't see a similar one where I had appealed as im sure we had a ticket to get a reply asking for driver details for me to reply asking for a clearer picture so I could confirm to then hear nothing for 3 months then get a letter asking for £ 100 thats why I came here for help as its now 5 months down the line.

    I'll contact those listed above.

    thanks

The picture was just a black square with a car outline.
I contacted them to say i have no idea who was driving as i can't tell from the pic and I've had other things to worry about to remember. Myself/partner or dad could have been driving. So i asked them to forward a better picture so i could confirm.

    Any suggestions?

The written word is often misunderstood and I was trying to help you!

You said the above. So my reply (which wasn't intended to be patronising at all) was:
Don't know who was driving? Think about it a bit, decide who it was and send that letter.

You've got the wrong end of the stick...OK I will spell it out. The registered keeper should think about which possible driver (partner or Dad) would best handle the appeal needed by a driver who was not the registered keeper! Is that driver forum-savvy and will follow our advice on appeal wording to win at POPLA?

    :)

good luck, remember the folk on here are honestly trying to help you,but as stroma says, hundreds are looking for help and advice, the replies you have had on your thread are from the best folk on the forum,so you have had the best and most accurate advice, but just familiarise yourself with some reading/research it really will help you,,and for my bit, i know the peel centre well, and hate excell with a passion,,when you parked in may,,even tho you knew it was p&d they had their old silly, hardly visible signs in situ,,even tho a couple of years ago when michael cutts (google him) spanked them in court the judge said signs were to small and asked them to change,,they did,in june/july this year,,2 and a bit years down the line,,they still attempt to scam unsuspecting motorists come what may,,do not fall for their scam,,but the best way is to fight them at their own game, you will win,,they will lose,,and they will crawl back under the rock from where they came,,incidentally they check/monitor this forum daily,so do not respond to any pms, especially those with a low post count,as it may be a wolf in sheeps clothing, come back here to check,,now on with your research,,,google michael, you will enjoy the read.
  • then if I took it wrong I apologise.

so you think I should go against everything and just say my partner was driving? will that not weaken the appeal and come across that I withheld info so I've delayed paying?

I am saying if your partner was driving you must urgently give that name and address (as you would read on umpteen threads on here!). It rewinds the clock to a stage the driver can then appeal and win at POPLA. You no longer have that chance as registered keeper - but the driver does because this was a postal PCN, so effectively the driver has never had a chance (yet) to appeal!

You can easily say you were unsure between two possible drivers (not you) and having given it some further thought after their latest letter, even though they didn't give you any other photos, you are certain that the driver was xxxxxxx who lives at xxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxx.
