Units vs Standing Charge

Hi,
Thought I would highlight a small calculation I've just done. I switched (gas only) from BG online variable feb 14 to npower 4 year fix product a couple of days ago.
npower's standing charge is much higher per day, but the unit price is slightly lower, so I wanted to find the crossover point where the saving on units matched the loss on standing charge.
It turned out I would need to burn exactly 6 metric units of gas to reach parity. More than that and I am saving money on my new tariff; less than that and I am losing money.
However, using the post-rise tariff figures from BG, that parity point will drop to just over 2 metric units of gas per day. I think I used less that that on just one day this summer, so I'm pleased. I will be saving most days and be protected until march 2017. No brainer!
